Springtime Joy

This cute little lamb is from the Springtime Joy stamp set with SU in the Jan - Jun 2021 Mini Catalog. I needed to create a March card for a retired military wives group.  This sweet spring-like card is also a fun fold but very easy.

Cardstock base - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" in Seaside Spray
Paper Blooms (Sale-a-Bration item) DSP 2 3/4" x 4 1/8"
Basic White cardstock 2 1/2" x 8 1/4", scored at 4 1/8"
Roccoco Rose cardstock 2 1/8" x 4"
Basic White cardstock piece 2 5/8" x 4"
Seaside Spray cardstock piece 2 3/4" x 5/8"

So the first thing I did was take the DSP paper and cut it half at 1 3/8".  Be sure to note the directionality and design of your paper when you are cutting.  I adhered the two pieces on either side of the Seaside Spray cardstock piece using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Then I took the longer basic white piece, folded it on the score line and burnished it with the bone folder.  I adhered this piece, with the glue, to the center of the Seaside Spray cardstock.  This made my card flap. In truth, you should stamp your inside sentiment/design before adhering in case you make an oops, it's easier to start over or correct.

I took the Roccoco Rose piece and ran it through the Stampin' Cut and Embossing Machine, using the correct plates, with the Meadow Moments embossing folder. Since the folder is small, it can be used by the Mini Embossing Machine. I adhered this piece to the top flap of my card on the Basic White with my glue.

With the smaller Basic White piece, I ran it through the Mini Stampin' Cut and Embossing Machine, using the correct plates, with the largest Stitched Oval from the Stitched Dies set.  I stamped the adorable lamb from the Springtime Joy stamp set in the center with black ink.   I colored her flowers, coordinating the colors in the DSP paper, in Roccoco Rose, Seaside Spray, Old Olive, and Night of Navy. I also put some gray in the body to add texture because I wanted to leave the lamb white.  The cheeks are Petal Pink. I used Stampin' Blends. I attached the completed oval piece to the center of the front flap with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Next, I stamped "Welcome Spring" from the same stamp set onto the strip of Seaside Spray, using Night of Navy ink.   I used the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch to punch each end.  I attached the sentiment to the card, using glue of the left side and a Dimensional toward the center side to keep it balanced.  I had the sentiment overhand on the right to act as a tab to lift the card open.

To finish the card, normally I would add some embellishments but the people I were making this for had a limited budget so I was trying to keep their costs down.  I was making 34!

Of course the inside needed some love too.  I stamped the spring sentiment from the Springtime Joy stamp set in Night of Navy ink.  I stamped the two small flowers, using black ink,  and colored them with the Blends to coordinate with the Paper Blooms DSP.

Don't forget to add something special to your envelope ❤️

Since the Paper Blooms is a DSP from Sale-a-Bration and won't be available long, I also did the same card in what would be current DSP and coordinating colors to that.  I used Ornate Garden DSP. Colors are Bumble Bee and Terracotta Tile.  Since there are no Bumble Bee blends, I used the BB marker.  I did not have Terracotta Tile Blends so I used Terracotta ink with Water Painters.  I have created another blog for this but it is essentially the same layout.
